You Can’t Spell America Without AI

This month, the White House released its AI Action Plan. The plan is a sweeping, unapologetically ambitious roadmap for U.S. dominance in artificial intelligence across innovation, infrastructure, and international influence. It’s not just a policy document; it’s a declaration of a new American era.

What’s in the plan?

Accelerate Innovation

·      Slash regulatory red tape and replace it with AI-accelerated agility.

·      Champion open-source and open-weight models.

·      Make AI adoption easier across healthcare, defense, and education.

·      Equip American workers to thrive—not just survive—in the AI age.

·      Invest in AI-driven science, manufacturing, and transparent evaluation systems.

Build Infrastructure at Scale

·      Fast-track permitting for data centers, chip factories, and power plants.

·      Modernize the grid to support explosive compute demand.

·      Restore U.S. semiconductor leadership.

·      Train a skilled workforce to power the AI economy.

Lead the World

·      Export the full AI stack - from hardware to models - on American terms.

·      Counter China’s influence in global AI governance.

·      Enforce chip export controls and secure America’s IP.

·      Guard against biosecurity and deepfake threats with clear AI legal standards.

Why this matters:

Much in the way that the US has led the world in manufacturing, finance, education, military, automotive, energy, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, aerospace, and agriculture, we need to lead this latest ‘arms race’ – maybe more than any other. This is important because AI will be the driving force behind all of these previous sectors at a pace that was previously inconceivable. The entire global economy will be shaped by advances in these sectors, which will, in turn, be shaped by AI.

What’s next?

·      Regulatory rollbacks and “sandbox” zones for AI testing

·      Massive public-private partnerships in cloud, chips, and data

·      AI-skilling embedded in everything from apprenticeships to tax policy

·      Military-grade AI infrastructure and secure national data hubs

·      Global pressure to align with American AI values and standards

This is not just a policy play. It’s a playbook for reshaping how we invent, build, work, protect, and lead.

As business leaders, technologists, policymakers, or educators, your role in this ecosystem is about to expand.
